Sam A HarrisAt Rare

If you know anything about food, there's one word that's sure to have been bandied around any of your dinner table conversations lately: seasonality. A simple and sensible enough concept, but seeing is believing, and it's rare food photography takes a step back to incorporate the seasons and weather in what's plated up.

But Sam A Harris is in the business of subtle surprises. Gander across his time at Tillingham Winery in Sussex, and you'll see pickles hunkering down for a long stay, the resident pigs saying good morning to a heavy hanging sun and vibrant winter greens shooting colour off the plate. His robust, honest photography echoes the winery's ethos of taking a raw ingredient and letting it shine with minimal fuss. Yet he also widens his lens, absorbing the experience of the colder months coming back to greet us like an old friend.
